Dexascan Bone Densitometry
To better serve the northwest Georgia area, Redmond Regional Medical Center's Women's Center is now offering Dexascan Bone Density tests. The Dexascan bone densitometer is highly sensitive technology that helps identify patients with a risk of bone diseases, such as osteoporosis, at a much earlier stage than the conventional x-ray systems.
Osteoporosis affects more than 28 million Americans, 80 percent of whom are women. The disorder results in more than one million hip, spine, and wrist fractures annually. With the Dexascan bone densitometer, weakness in the bone can be detected to avoid such injuries.
The Women's Center's separate parking area and registration will help you streamline your visit. These exams are done between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and many times may be coordinated with mammogram appointments. After obtaining a doctor's order, you may schedule these appointments by calling our Central Scheduling department @ (706) 802-3570 to set up your tests.
